As it turns out, Tony Barnhart may indeed have been correct.
Saturday afternoon, the CBS Sports college football analyst reported that Kansas would meet with Buffalo coach Turner Gill about their vacancy on Sunday.
Various reports this morning, however, stated that a meeting would not take place until sometime this week. Apparently, that’s not the case.
According to the Buffalo News, Gill interviewed Sunday for the Jayhawks’ coaching vacancy. The meeting reportedly took place in New York City.
On Friday, less than 24 hours after Mark Mangino resigned, KU officials requested permission to speak to Gill.
i’m not sure i’d take this job if i was Gill. kansas isnt a football school and im not sure about having sustained success. say what you want about that balloon that used to be on the sideline but kansas was crap before he got there.
if i was Gill i’d wait for a school that has football on the top of the priority list to come calling.
