Harbaugh confirms there's no meeting with Irish

Speaking on the Lambeau Field turf before his brother’s Baltimore Ravens take on the Green Bay Packers, Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed what both his athletic director and agent said earlier tonight.

He will not be meeting with Notre Dame about their coaching vacancy.

“There’s no meeting. I haven’t talked to anybody from Notre Dame. I haven’t talked to anybody from Notre Dame about a meeting,” Harbaugh told ESPN sideline reporter Michelle Tafoya.  The Cardinal coach also ended the interview by saying that, “God willing, Michelle, I’ll be back at Stanford” when asked if he would indeed be back in 2010.

(Hmmm, was that the sound of a door I heard being left open?)

The New York Times reported earlier today that Harbaugh either had met or would be meeting with Irish A.D. Jack Swarbrick this week.  The Times later “amended” the story after Cardinal A.D. Bob Bowlsby vehemently denied that Harbaugh was interviewing with the Irish.

The arrogance of Notre Dame in this arena is astounding. It seems as though they still believe it to be this vast honor to all non domer lowly coaches everywhere just to be thought of for this position. The fact that they continue to float names of the elite coaches as candidates even though they have repeatedly said NO NO NO NO NO is ridiculously sad and quite pathetic. Notre Dame is a middle tier university that cannot compete with the other large universities. It would be fantastic if the media would step up and admit it so we can move on with our lives and read about a program that actually has an impact on the BCS. Notre Lame football does not have one iota of impact on college football other than to bring up the old stories of past glory some 25 years ago. One of these days the domers and their media whores will wake up in rehab and finally be able to admit it.

    robertg,
Google “civil rico wire fraud” and half of the results returned are from you. Jeez. Give it a rest already.

ND football would be smart to realilze that they are no longer a top-tier team and just live with it. Everyone would be a whole lot happier.
