No Strong offer by Louisville… yet

On Sunday, the Louisville Courier-Journal reported that a meeting would take place between Louisville and Charlie Strong, and that the Florida defensive coordinator could be offered the Cardinals’ job shortly thereafter.

While the latter has not occurred as of yet, the former did as the two sides talked Sunday in regards to the opening.

Both the Courier-Journal and the Gainesville Sun report that another conversation — likely via the phone — will take place today, with another round of talks possible for Tuesday.

Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich came away “very, very impressed” by his meeting with Strong, but admits he still has some work ahead of him if he wants to pry the coordinator out of Gainesville.

I know Florida wants to keep him,” Jurich said.

Strong and former Tennessee head coach Phil Fulmer are the only two known candidates to speak to Jurich about the position.
