FSU's Trickett in the mix for Herd opening

Florida State offensive line coach Rick Trickett has emerged as a serious contender for the Marshall coaching job, the Charleston Daily Mail is reporting.

According to the paper, the 61-year-old coach will interview for the position on Friday at an undisclosed, neutral location.

Trickett has deep ties to the area as he’s from West Virginia, went to college at Glenville and was twice an assistant coach at WVU.

Central Michigan’s Butch Jones has been the presumed front runner for the position in the immediate aftermath of Mark Snyder’s dismissal, although Jones could be delaying further pursuit of the Herd job until he sees how the situation in Cincinnati shakes out.

I agree completely. Word out of Cincinnati is that Jones is purposely dragging his feet on the Marshall gig so he can pounce on the Cincinnati job. When Kelly leaves, if we get Jones, we wont miss a beat…

I agree. Butch Jones was my 2nd choice for the WVU job (Terry Bowden being 1). He’ll be a great choice for Cincy. Being originally from WV, I would obviously love to see him at Marshall, but he’s ready to move to Cincy and show WVU what could have been.
Maybe WVU can give Stewart to Marshall……
