Report: Kelly could be named Irish coach Friday

Another hour, another report on the status of Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly and the Notre Dame coaching vacancy.  And, yes, they are still very much intertwined.

According to the Chicago Tribune‘s Breaking Sports News website, Kelly and Irish officials met in the days prior to Cincinnati’s de facto Big East championship game this past Saturday, and have gotten to the point where there will likely be no need for a formal sit-down interview.

It was reported that such a meeting would take place today, but subsequent reports stated that the decision had been made that no formal interview would take place.

The Tribune reports that an official announcement could come as early as Friday as Kelly would like to wait until after UC’s awards banquet on Thursday.  (Yeah, that banquet won’t be the least bit uncomfortable for all involved.)

Simply put, and as we have stated numerous times in the past, it would take an unexpected shift in direction on the part of both Kelly and Notre Dame in order for the current UC coach to not become the former UC coach and trot off to South Bend, Touchdown Jesus and a pretty good-sized reclamation project.

In an interesting aside, the Tribune also reports that the Irish had similar discussions with Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz, but those talks never gained the traction that Kelly’s did.

whatever kelly or swarbrick or jenkins may do, there will be no college football next season at notre dame or at any other school.
this is the last season of operations for crooked college football enterprises and every person and entity involved in those massive con operations, including media shill con artists like yourselves.
of course, none of you believe that there will ever be an end to your very profitable con operations.
this was also the case with ken lay of enron and bernie ebbers of mci worldcom and many other of the con artists who used to run enron and mci woldcom and the media shills who tried to cover for them until we brought them all crashing down with our civil rico lawsuits.

So would he leave before the bowl game?

Kelly seems eager to make this jump, but I wonder…why ND? If he hangs out a little bit, maybe something even better could come along, where there wouldn’t be such an uphill climb. Next year is gonna be tough sledding for anybody who makes the move to South Bend. If he’s so all-fired itchy at Cincinnati, he should be exploring every possibility.

robertg- Have you ever read Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes? Me thinks you’re “tilting at windmills”.

Wassup with this robertg guy? Is he a victim of optiorectumitis? For those with no medical background, that is a malady caused by the optic nerves becoming entangled with the sphincter causing the poor victim to not know whether to sh*t or go blind. I suspect robertg’s anus bites his seat cushion everytime he blinks too.

Good Riddance. And there is no chance in Hell he coaches us in a the Sugar Bowl. AD Mike Thomas will not let a ND guy coach UC in the biggest bowl game in school history. Isnt it ironic that ND turned down a bowl game so BK could hopefully finish out the year at UC and then go to ND. Thankfully Thomas wont let that happen. Besides, Kelly got outcoached last year in the Orange bowl, and what do you think Meyer is going to do to him in the Sugar? Kelly will lose half of his hype after the beatdown from Fla. Look, I’m a HUGE UC fan, but also a realist. Florida will win, but man, how far have we come….

And here I thought Robertg was hanging from a shower rod somewhere. Maybe he was busy living in his cabin in the woods wearing his hoodie, not shaving and writing his manifesto on college football.

When Fat Kelly leaves, hopefully he fails miserably. He’ll have to do more building at ND than he has to at UC, and no offense, but UC football is 10x better than ND football. I hope we play ND down the road and smack his bitch ass around. I’ve met Brian Kelly twice and he’s a cock sucker, should fit right in with the rest of the arrogant jackasses at ND.

So by his dreamworld scenario, maybe Robertg will see Notre Dame where they belong, in the Ivy League, and the rest of the college football machine can go about the business of made for TV competition (which by the way, rarely has anything whatsoever to do with academics). And Brian Kelly, I wish you success, but don’t ever forget that Gerry Faust once achieved his dream. (sorry GF, a fine ND man and individual by all standards).

My goodness, RobertG, what planet has your mental state landed on? You are the perfect example of the kind of enemy that ANY team in ANY sport loves to have, simply because somebody like YOU being an enemy makes that team look good.
I’ll bet you hate the Yankees, too……..

Killerkeller: I wouldn’t use the language you did to describe Brian Kelly but technically you are telling the truth. I have met him on a few occasions at school and during my little brothers football when he came to speak and you’re correct. He is kind and compassionate to people he needs to be kind to but he truly is an arrogant man. I know that coaches need to be arrogant but he goes beyond that.
