In the month of December alone, Lane Kiffin has lost two members of his Tennessee coaching staff to other schools — wide receivers coach Frank Wilson to LSU, running backs/special teams coach Eddie Gran to Florida State.
Now, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel, Kiffin could be looking at having to replace yet another coach. If not more.
Lance Thompson, linebackers coach and recruiter extraordinaire, is said to be a leading candidate to join new Louisville head coach Charlie Strong‘s staff at Louisville.Thompson would likely be Strong’s defensive coordinator if hired.
Any movement on the part of Thompson from the Volunteers to the Cardinals would likely not occur until after UT’s bowl game.
In addition to the very real possibility of losing Thompson, the News Sentinel reports that offensive coordinator Jim Chaney could be shortly behind Thompson as the next coach of the Knoxville door. According to the paper, Chaney’s NFL ties makes it possible that he would be offered a job in the big boys league at some point this offseason.
Gee wonder why?
Crush
Because the’re all damn good coaches
Perhaps they feel the winds of a potential NCAA storm coming?
Such a class act at Tennessee, your mama would want you to go there
Captain Kiffin will keep the ship righted during the NCAA storm…but the assistants are like rats fleeing the Titanic
LT is a great recruiter, but he’s a lousy coach; I also heard the Ogre is in the running for the UNLV job. Frank Wilson’s move was pretty much lateral, from what I heard.
Lamey will be the only one left soon, except for daddy….
