Gators Nix-ed in bid for Ole Miss DC

In Florida’s bid to replace Charlie Strong, who left Gainesville earlier this week to become the next head coach at Louisville, they can apparently cross one name of their list of potential defensive coordinators.

According to the Jackson Clarion-Ledger, Ole Miss coordinator Tyrone Nix has opted to turn down the Gators’ offer to become Strong’s replacement.

Instead, Nix will remain in Oxford as part of Houston Nutt‘s coaching staff.

The 36-year-old coach was hired by Nutt in December of 2007 as one of the first members of his first Rebels’ coaching staff.

The Gators must be in shock. They think they are such a hot ticket, but even Ole Miss looks better to Nix .

John Brantley is coming, The Gator’s future looks quite bright to me. This is a young man who has a shot gun for an arm and has the same mentality of Tim Tebow. I think you will be suprised to see how really good this young man really is, Charlie Strong will be missed however Coach Meyer will replace him with a top notch caliber coach.
