A school-record six Alabama players were named to the Associated Press‘ first-team All-American squad, it was announced today.
Running back and Heisman winner Mark Ingram, linebacker Rolando McClain, defensive tackle Terrence Cody, guard Michael Johnson, cornerback Javier Arenas and kicker Leigh Tiffin were the members of the SEC champions who were honored.
Ingram was joined in the backfield by Heisman runner-up Toby Gerhart of Stanford. Both backs were unanimous selections.
McClain and Nebraska’s Ndamukong Suh were the only other unanimous selections.
Texas’ Colt McCoy was selected as the first-team quarterback, while Florida’s Tim Tebow was inexplicably named to the second-team offense.
The SEC lead all conferences with 11 first-team selections; the Big Ten had just one — Michigan State linebacker Greg Jones.
What a joke. Tim Tebow is 2nd Team All American. Give me a break. Jimmy Clausen and Jake Locker put up 10 times better numbers and are 10 times better. And don;t give me, Tebow’s team won more games. The Gators won 3 games in spite of him. What a crock.
Tim Tebow– scathing by by the seat of his pants. I wonder if he’ll get these breaks in the NFL? PFT…
Wow, it looks like John Taylor and Urban Meyer will be crying each other to sleep as they prepare for life without their man crush Tebow.
John, I’m so glad I popped over tonight. I did not know you had a man crush on Tim Tebow! You sure could have fooled me … and I think you’ve fooled a lot of Gator fans as well
Omigosh, that’s the best laugh I’ve had today!
Congrats to Ingram, McClain, Arenas (and bless you for being so sweet to my munchkins!), Johnson, Tiffin, and Mt. Cody!
ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ Deb: Yeah, I got a chuckle out of that as well. Guess he’s the new guy…
