San Jose goes way East for new coach

Just a couple of days after a pair of offensive coordinators -- Washington’s Doug Nussmeier and Alabama’s Jim McElwain -- said thanks but no thanks to San Jose State, the Spartans have likely found their head coach.

And they went to the other side of the football to do it.

According to ESPN.com‘s Joe Schad, Duke defensive coordinator Mike MacIntyre will be named as the next coach at the school.

MacIntyre spent the last two seasons with the Blue Devils as their coordinator. In 2007, he was an assistant with the New York Jets; the four years prior to that, he was on Bill Parcells’ staff with the Dallas Cowboys.

The 44-year-old coach will replace Dick Tomey on the Spartans sidelines.
