When it was announced last weekend that Turner Gill was leaving Buffalo for Kansas, athletic director Warde Manuel said he was going underground and would not be commenting on the search to replace Gill until a candidate had been identified.
That has indeed been the case as there’s scant information surrounding the search, but some information has begun to leak through the cracks.
The Chicago Tribune reported late this past week that former Notre Dame assistant Corwin Brown was interviewed for the vacancy. Florida assistants Scott Loeffler and Vance Bedford, according to the Gainesville Sun, are also on the Bulls’ radar. Interim Cincinnati head coach Jeff Quinn‘s name has also been attached to the opening.
Now comes word that two additional names are being tossed out as being potential replacements.
An Internet website is reporting that Wake Forest offensive coordinator/greatest coaching name ever Steed Lobotzke — wasn’t he Tom Cruise’s friend in “All the Right Moves”? — is interviewing for the job, while the Buffalo News adds the name of Pittsburgh assistant Greg Gattuso into the mix.
