Barnett in mix for UNLV gig

Earlier today, we noted a report from the Las Vegas Journal-Review which stated that only two candidates were under consideration for UNLV job.

According to ESPN.com‘s Joe Schad, that number is now three.

In a tweet earlier this afternoon, Schad stated that Montana’s Billy Bobby Hauck and former Alabama head coach Dennis Franchione, as mentioned by the Review-Journal, are candidates for the opening.  Additionally, and for the first time that we are aware of, Schad attaches the name of Gary Barnett to the Rebels job.

Barnett was the head coach at Northwestern from 1991 through 1998, then moved on to Colorado and was there from 1999-2005.  Barnett’s contract was bought out after the 2005 season.
