When Nevada takes the field for their Hawaii Bowl match-up with SMU, they’ll do so without a pair of players who ran afoul of team rules.
According to a press release, sophomore linebacker Andre Davis and freshman defensive back Duke Williams have both been disciplined for unspecified violations of team and athletic department policy. Davis was dismissed from the program, while Williams was suspended for the bowl game.
“I have dismissed Andre Davis from the program immediately and I have suspended Duke Williams for the bowl game,” head coach Chris Ault said. “I want to apologize to the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, the people of Hawaii and our fans for their conduct.”
“This swift action taken by Coach Ault is indicative of his commitment to doing things the right way,” athletics director Cary Groth said. “This behavior is not representative of the beliefs and ideals of the Nevada football program, the Wolf Pack athletics department or the University of Nevada.”
