When Charles Scott suffered a broken collarbone on Nov. 7, there was some hope being held out that the running back would be able to return for LSU’s bowl game.
Unfortunately for Scott, that hope has been snuffed out as the senior hasn’t progressed enough in his rehab to be able to play in the New Year’s Day Capitol One Bowl against Penn State.
Not only does the injury end Scott’s 2009 season, it also ends his LSU career as he will have exhausted his collegiate eligibility.
“It appears to me that Charles Scott cannot play in this game with good conscience,” head coach Les Miles said. “I think it’s smart, wise for him to hit the rehabilitation, work hard, get it all squared away and be ready for the NFL. The injury is going to heal 100 percent very comfortably. If he had just a couple more weeks, I’m certain that he’d probably play in this game.”
It’s believed Scott will be healthy enough to participate in the Senior Bowl at the end of January.
Although you weren’t used as you should have been, THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES, Charles. Any NFL team will be better off w/ you on their team! Thanks again and Good Luck!
