For those in Gator Nation holding onto a sliver of hope that Urban Meyer will change his mind about quitting as Florida’s head coach, you may not want to hold your breath for any length of time.
Reached via text by the Orlando Sentinel, Meyer’s wife Shelley said that there’s “no chance” her husband will reconsider his decision to step down.
“This is the best decision for him and us right now,” Mrs. Meyer told the Sentinel.
The paper also confirmed that the Meyer family will remain in Gainesville and that Meyer will remain employed by the school in an unidentified capacity.
That could change this afternoon, however, as Meyer is scheduled to meet with the media at 4:30 ET, and he may offer up a clue as to what his future role at the school will entail.
