Obviously, the big news of the day has been the suspension of Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach.
According to a press release, Leach was suspended after a Red Raider player and his parents complained to school officials about his treatment following an injury.
The school did not release the player’s name, but the talk around Internet message boards and at least one Lubbock-area radio station — KSTQ-FM — is that the name of the player is Adam James.
James, a redshirt sophomore receiver, is the son of ESPN college football analyst Craig James.
According to the report on KSTQ, James suffered from the effects of a mild concussion and came to practice wearing sunglasses as advised by his doctor.
Leach apparently did not like the fact that James was wearing sunglasses, so he allegedly ordered the player into a darkened equipment room for a couple/several hours. ESPN.com’s Joe Schad reports via Twitter that Leach “is alleged to have isolated a player in a dark closet for not practicing with a concussion.”
Again, these are just rumors at this point and, as of this posting, we have not seen them confirmed anywhere.
Craig James just ruined his kids college career with the way this was handled!
I agree with Terry. The school doesn’t identify the student, but the world finds out b/c his daddy sends out a press release. Why would I as a Division 1 head coach want the headache.
Unless Mike Leach is the dumbest coach in the world, why would he do such a thing to any player, but the son of someone who has a forum such as Craig James has bring this to light. Did Leach get coaching advice from the former Kansas coach or from the current USF coach??? This sure sounds like, ” Dad, I’m not starting and this is why”. I hope Craig James double verified this story because if it is not true, He can start looking for a new job.
Good Grief!!!!
Well here we go again, seems like lots of people just like to cause trouble!!! Just get rid of the trouble maker, and the Dad, let him try to play somewhere else, maybe he just not good enough for dear old Dad, but at least Dad doesn’t get to call the game! Good enough for him, I’m quite sure he not only ruined his sons football career,if he ever had one, but also trying to ruin Texas Tech. What a joke! So embarrassing for Adam, what Dad would do that to his son, come on! And what ever happened to INNOCENT until PROVEN guilty!!! just goes to prove people want to believe anything bad true or not! Maybe Leach will sue Craig James!!! just sad the Alamo Bowl will be over by then, the whole team suffers because of one person and his DADDY!!!
