As it turns out, all it would’ve taken to avoid a suspension was for Mike Leach to give up an “I’m sorry” or two, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal is reporting.
According to the paper, the Texas Tech coach had until Monday to write an apology to the aggrieved player, Adam James, who is a Red Raider wide receiver and son of ESPN analyst Craig James.
To his credit -- or his detriment, depending on your perspective -- Leach felt he did nothing wrong and failed to write the apology, leading to a suspension being handed down.
Leach also told school officials “James was a slacker and his father was always calling and acting like a Little League dad.”
