Corp won't slam transfer door completely shut

Aaron Corp entered summer camp five months ago with a slight edge in the fight to become Southern Cal’s starting quarterback.

A cracked fibula suffered early on in the summer opened the door, however, for freshman “sensation” Matt Barkley to grab the starting job, a position he never relinquished save for an injury early on in the regular season.

Head coach Pete Carroll‘s gushing has made it clear that Barkley — provided he’s healthy — is the future at the position, meaning the job likely won’t be up for grabs for at least the next two seasons, and possibly a third if Barkley decides to stay for his senior season.  With two years of eligibility remaining, where does ostensibly having no shot at the starting job leave Corp?

There have been whispers that Corp will transfer at some point between now and spring practice.  Corp was asked about that chatter by the Orange County Register, and very much qualified his stance that he will remain a Trojan.

Right now I am,” Corp said when asked if he’s staying. “To be honest, I haven’t really thought about it much. As of right now, I’m enrolled in January.”

Two right now’s in three sentences?  To us it sounds like “right now” is Latin for “not for long”.
