Boise extends Petersen

According to both the Idaho Statesman and ESPN,com, Boise State has decided to ring in the new year by giving their head coach a brand new contract.

Chris Petersen, according to the reports, has agreed to a new five-year contract that will keep him with the Broncos through the 2010 2014 season.

“This is something that obviously we’ve been wanting and working on for quite a while with coach Pete, and we’re just thrilled that we’re able to come to terms and reach an agreement on this new contract,” Boise State athletic director Gene Bleymaier said. “We would like to think that coach Pete will be with us at Boise State throughout his career in coaching … We couldn’t be happier with coach and his staff and what they’ve done for our university and for our football program.”

The financial particulars of the deal were not released, but President Bob Kustra told the Statesman that it’s more about the length of the deal than money.

Petersen did allow that “considerations” for his assistant coaches were built into the new agreement.

um, his extension, of 5 years, will keep him through the 2010 season. So the extension gets him through the end of this year?

…with the Broncos through the 2010 season.
Should read 2014. You have 2 “Petersen” and 1 “Peterson” in this one so you’re getting better. :)

The fog of a very healthy New Year’s Eve party is still very much hanging over me. :-)

Great move by Boise St. He is the real reason Boise St has been successful for 10 years. Dan Hawkins showed that by how bad Colorado has been the last few years. The same scenario goes for TCU with Gary Patterson. Francione stunk at A@M after leaving TCU proving it was Patterson who was the real talent at TCU.
