Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops created a mini-stir a couple of weeks ago when he visited his Alabama counterpart, Nick Saban, and took in some of the Tide’s bowl practices.
It was widely thought that, since both the Sooners and Longhorns are in the Big 12 and play each other annually, Saban was attempting to pick Stoops’ brain as to how to beat the ‘Horns.
Colt McCoy‘s response to the rumored brainstorming session involving the Sooners coach?
“Haven’t we beat them the last two years?”
Zing!!!
But, yes, McCoy is correct. Texas beat Oklahoma 16-13 this year, and 45-35 last season.
Seriously, though, that was a pretty good one…
Hey Colt, That will be real funny when Alabama walks all over Texas in the bowl game.
He could be looking for some new ideas for his defense….
I see ‘Bama fan is carrying the SEC fan flag proudly today.
Dear UT,
On behalf of most of America, please win this game.
Stoops came to Tuscaloosa to watch Alabama practice and perhaps learn how to not lose in the post season. Had Saban wanted information from Stoops, he’d have gone to Oklahoma.
And this is completely aside from the fact that it’s not exactly an arcane mystery that you beat Texas by putting pressure on McCoy, no secret coaching skull-sessions needed to understand this.
Ok, America, who do you want to win?
http://www.boards.edgy-sports.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=2444
Wasn’t that a Heath Shuler quote?
Kind of funny considering since last year’s Sugar Bowl all the Bama fans have been bitching about Meyer supposedly giving Whittingham information on how to beat Bama.
I guess when they do it, it’s somehow different….lol
Actually this is the second time Saban & Stoops have met. Saban went to Oklahoma last summer to talk about how to defense Tebow & the Florida offense.
You don’t hear the Gator fans bitching!! It’s all part of the game.
I’ve come to expect that kind of hypocrisy from Bama fans, especially one who always posts on this site.
Is that lucid & cogent enough for you…..
BrownsTown, so far America appears to be behind you.
Doubt seriously if lil’ Nicky needs any help… He’ll be just fine come Thursday nite.
I don’t see the shot at either really. He better hope he throws for more than 127 yards on THU like he did this year against OU. Saban just invited poor ole Bob over so he could see how a team prepares to win a big game.
4 out of 5 over 0U if you’re scoring at home…
I dont think that Saban needs anyones help in dismantling Texas like Fla did to Cincinatti
Longhorns by 10.
Alabama (and Florida for that matter) have not faced a defense in the same league as UT. SEC meets the major league on Thursday, and are in for some schooling on both sides of the ball.
Since the heading of this blog didn’t have the word “Meyer” or “Gator” in it, I guess our resident Alabama “blowhard” isn’t going to comment….
Wow, great fan for Bama!!….couldn’t care less to read or comment about her OWN team….what a SHOCK…lol….
I’m sure the next blog concerning Meyer or the Gators will bring out the best of her “obsessed” drivel about Meyer….
@ scott_nchills,
Actually, Bama whipped up on FLA’s defense and that D was ranked #1 in the country though Bama has the best defense in the country. Guess who Bama goes up against in practice? The best defense in the country. I think they will be ready for the Saban knock off Marshall led Shorthorns.
Another blog about the Gators just appeared….waiting for the “blowhard’s” response……5, 4, 3, 2, 1…..
OK sports fans….let’s take a peek at the blog titled “Gators facing more attrition?”……ding ding ding we have a winner….
More diatribe on Meyer….can you say OBSESSED….
sad & predictible really!!!!….
McCoy…you should be focused on beating Bama instead of Bob Stoops, you have plenty of concerns…Bama 37 UT 17
@Seeryer,
.
Funny how just a few years ago USC made the same mistake – strutting and chest puffing ‘we are the unstoppable kings’ – until Texas came to town and stuffed REGGIE the BEAST (re: Mr. Ingram, welcome to the big leagues…
Can’t wait to see the replay – this time with Colt McCoy strolling through the lights and confetti after the Texas D stuffs Ingram for 53 yards or so and McElroy sitting on the sideline with his head spinning.
This game will be even uglier than what FL did to OK last year..
At least you can go to bed early, middle 3rd quarter at the latest…
@scott_nchills
Dude, you are stupid. Plain and simple. UT will find out what it means to meet a defense this Thursday. I bet you’re at least 36, still live with your mom, and a virgin. Cause only someone that out of touch with reality could believe what you do. Sure, MOST of the country may WANT UT to beat BAMA, but if they were personally betting on the game, over 90% of them would pick BAMA to win. Hell, I’d be willing to bet that Texas doesn’t score more than 10 pts…..unless of course, it’s the 4th quarter with 6 min to go and BAMA is already up by 40. I hope you re-visit your silly little comments once this game is over. Oh, and ROLL TIDE bitches!!!!!
It’s common practice for NFL coaches who are friendly to consult with one another about opponents before big games. In fact, NFL teams have been known to snatch up recently cut players for the sole purpose of picking their brains about their former teams. That’s why I never complained about Meyer giving tips to Whittingham before last year’s Sugar Bowl–and certainly wouldn’t blame it for our loss. And I doubt Texas is worried about anything Stoops might say to Saban.
But McCoy’s quote is brilliant.
Yes sir, the ‘TIDE’ will ‘roll’ (over), after a serious HOOKING by the Horns of the true champions in this contest. HOOK EM BABY!
Colt, how right you are dude – maybe Stoops and Saban should hire Mack Brown for some consultation on how to beat Texas !!

McCoy also doesn’t realize that OU still owned them throughout the decade. Hell, I believe OU has taken claim of Austin. What was it, 5 or 6 straight? I’m from Texas and live in Texas with having family graduated from UT and most of the state can’t stand the Longhorns, it doesn’t matter which athletic program it is. They are a bunch of self-absorbed, arrogant, ignorant cry-babies!
Every year Mackie boy cries around about how they should have a shot at the BCS, how we’re better than the rest, the refs need to get better, blah, blah, blah. Even their drunken of a sailor baseball coach Augie Garrido is an ass. I remember watching the Longhorns get their hats handed to them by the underdog Cal State Fullerton team during the College World Series, and what did UT do? They only refused to shake Cal State Fullerton’s hands, stand out on the field during the ceremony, and accept second place! Real classy guys, sign me up with Longhorn baseball!
Give ‘em hell, Crimson! I don’t care what you gotta do to beat ‘em, just f***ing BEAT ‘EM!!!
Sincerely,
A Texan
BURNT ORANGE ISN’T A FRICKING COLOR! IT’S A SHADE OF OVERCOOKED YAMS!!!

ROFL
We’ll certainly do our best, Texas!!
ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!
To all those already counting their chickens (yep – you bama fans), you pretty much said the same thing before the Auburn game, too – huh?
Think maybe Ingram can get more than 30 yards this time and bama take the lead before the last 1.5 minutes?
It could be interesting.
@DrLarry …
But the final score is all that matters.
Oooo, Doc, I’m one fan who doesn’t believe in counting chickens before they’re hatched. That’s why all I’ve said is “we’ll certainly do our best.” I don’t care if we don’t get the lead before the last 90 seconds as long as we have it when the clock runs out. Of course, after what I went through with my Steelers in last year’s Super Bowl, I may need you to prescribe me some serious tranquilizers by the start of the fourth
Judging from many of the comments, these pretenders from Texas not only don’t deserve to go to the Big Dance, but they will wilt like little pansies and be crushed under the rolling tide of SEC domination.
About four teams came within two lousy plays of beating these guys this year. Their QB has a cool-sounding name, but who has he beaten? What has he ever done to deserve all the hype? We all know that a certain SEC quarterback is the best ever.
Other Big 12 teams probably don’t get spend any more time or effort preparing for the Texas game than any other game. It’s not as if it’s their Superbowl or anything. It’s nothing like the SEC, where every game is tough.
Texas was just barely won both Rose Bowl Games and both their opponents scored over 37 points.
When was the last time they had a Heisman winner?…had to be eons ago and none of their quarterbacks has ever won it. They don’t have a great running back like Alabama and nobody’s ever even heard of their receivers except for that Shipley guy. How good can he be?…only had 22 yds. in their Texas/Oklahoma game.
It looks like a sure thing. Piece of cake. Done deal. Easy as pie. Total mismatch. Mail it in. Start the party! Coach Saban’s group shouldn’t have to lose any sleep over this game….just like playing Chattanooga or Western Kentucky.
The line today is just 4 points. Those bookies are history! It should be 40 points instead of 4. Alabama should schedule Texas every year! Heaven knows their program needs the money!
I am hoping every player, fan, coach in Alabama and Pasadena believes everything I’ve written thus far.
I believe one thing… That one should not bet against Colt McCoy. or Jordan Shipley… or Sergio kindle… or Blake Gideon…or Major Applewhite… or…
Got it yet?
Gatorfan1:
Bitter much?
I know these are tough times for you; after all, you had been planning since this time last year to be crowing about the superiority of the Gators as they closed in on their third national title in four years against some obviously outclassed foe. Instead, your season is already over, and all you have to do is to watch Florida slowly come apart at the seams in the offseason. To witness the end of “Love Story 2: When Urban Met Timmy” in Gainesville. And to be upset that you can’t participate in the community circle-jerk this weekend because your copy of “Masturbation for Dummies” is on back-order.
But cheer up! Spring will be in the air before you know it, the flowers will be in bloom, and the sounds of birds and pads popping will signal the start of spring practice. Then the long anticipation of summer, SEC Media Days, the countdown to opening kickoff, and then finally…it happens…the moment of truth…
…when you realize that the Gators are going to suck next season.
See you in Tuscaloosa this fall.
RTR!

Your command of the english language is well……very entertaining to say the least!!! lol…
Listen, get back to me 4 years from now when your team puts themselves in the same position…
Then we’ll talk……I’ll be waiting……
