In a move that’s not all that surprising, Penn State linebacker Navorro Bowman has opted to make the 2009 season his final season in Happy Valley.
Speaking to ESPN.com‘s Joe Schad, Bowman said that while he’s proud “to have been part of a great tradition at Penn State”, he feels like it’s time to move on to the next phase of his football career.
“I sat down with my family and the right choice for me is to pursue the next level,” Bowman said. “I’m proud of my accomplishments in college but it’s also a time to take care of my family.”
Bowman is the first underclassman LB to publicly announce he’s leaving school early.

We’ll be sad to see him go. Replacing Bowman and Lee will not be an easy task
With Sean Lee and Bowman (and Josh Hull who couldn’t chase down a quadriplegic) the LB corp will be young and inexperienced next year.
Look for Mauti to step in as a leader, should he recover from his injury well enough. There is a lot of talent and depth at the LB for PSU so this is not a major concern. The real question will be is Kevin Newsome ready. Of course he will have Evan Royster to lean on.
dude can play, good luck to him in the league
