Withn a few scraps of confetti still likely wafting down on the Rose Bowl turf, we’ve already turned the page — for the most part — and are turning our collective attention to the 2010 season.
Seriously.
We’ve put together a piece titled “2010: A Look Ahead”, where we take a look at the most compelling stories for 2010, an early look at the Heisman race, coaching hot seat, risers and tumblers in ’10, etc.
Click HERE to take a peek, and don’t be shy about voicing your complaints about how this or that school were dissed or overlooked. In fact, we encourage that type of behavior. Mainly because we simply don’t care.
Now that the top 4 teams in te Big10, Ohio State, Iowa, Penn State, and Wisconsin, have all won their Bowl Games over such powerhouses as Oregon, Georgia Tech, LSU, and Miami Florida, I hope that the Big 10 Conference will be shown a little more respect in 2010. The Southeast, Pac10, Big East and Atlantic Coast Conferences are not any stronger and all have both good and weaker teams in any given year.
Nebraska is NOT the class of the Big 12 North. The ONLY reason they won it this year is because Missouri’s Blaine Gabbert was injured for a stretch of three games. Missouri will once again take over the North in 2010 and Blaine Gabbert will be in the Heisman Hunt. He’s by far the best QB in the Big 12 heading into 2010 and would probably have to be considered one of the best in all of college football as Snead is entering the NFL draft as is Mallett.
Kevin Newsome, the heir apparent to Daryl Clark at Penn State in 2010, will surprise many next year. Similar skills to Tyrell Prior at Ohio State regarding running ability, but a more accurate passer, needs only a few games experience to step up and fill Clark’s shoes. With numerous experienced wideouts returning, including Moye and Zug and the top 3 running backs, incuding 1,000+ yard rusher, Royster, the Nittany Lions will once again be a Top 10 Contender.
