Running of the Bulls... to the NFL

On the same day that South Florida lost their head coach -- OK, not so much “lost” as “fired” -- the Bulls also lost a second underclassman to the NFL draft to boot.

According to Greg Auman of the St. Petersburg Times, wide receiver Carlton Mitchell has decided to forego another year with the Bulls and cannon ball into the 2010 NFL draft pool.

The move by Mitchell is somewhat unexpected because, as noted by the Times, the receiver had said recently that he was returning to USF for another season. The decision to leave early, according to the paper, is not related to coach Jim Leavitt‘s dismissal earlier today.

The 6-4, 212-pound Mitchell led USF with 40 receptions and 706 yards this past season.

Mitchell joins teammate Jason Pierre-Paul as early entries from USF in the upcoming draft.

And how did I remember that little tidbit, aside from the fact that it was mentioned in Auman’s article? Because I remembered to click HERE, of course.
