H.S. Coach: Hendrix still a Notre Dame commit

Notre Dame quarterback recruit Andrew Hendrix, a four-star prospect according to Rivals.com, made it known recently that he was reconsidering his college choice after the dismissal of Charlie Weis.

Hendrix went so far as to take an official recruiting trip to Gainesville, and was even rumored to have made Florida his new preferred destination.  All along, Hendrix has remained “orally” committed to the Irish, not that it means much.  Players can’t truly commit to schools until national signing day on February 3.

Hendrix’s high school coach said Tuesday that his pupil “has decided to stay orally committed to Notre Dame.”

While Hendrix could change his mind over the next three weeks, this is at least promising news for an Irish program dealing with injuries, inexperience, and ineffectiveness at quarterback following the departure of Jimmy Clausen.
