Pair of Ducks accused of frat theft

This was not the best of weekends for the Oregon football program. First, there was their kicker suffering a beating that left him hospitalized in critical condition following an on-campus brawl.

Now comes word that a pair of Ducks may have been involved in a theft at one of the school’s fraternities.

According to the Eugene Register-Guard, a UO student has accused two unnamed football players of stealing several items from a frat house. Because the players have not been identified specifically by police as either suspects or person of interest, the Register-Guard is not revealing the names of either player.

(Writer’s note: We’ve received the names of the players from multiple sources, and let’s just say that one of the accused is a very recognizable name.)

From the Register-Guard‘s report:

Police responded to a theft report at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house at 812 E. 14th Ave. just before 1 a.m. Sunday, according to spokeswoman Melinda Kletzok. Among the items reported stolen were a laptop, musical instruments and a projector, she said.

Police have unnamed persons of interest in the case, but their attempts to contact those individuals were not successful.

UO spokesman Dan Williford said head coach Chip Kelly is aware of the situation and “has looked into it.”
