This is getting very confusing…
Rumors surfaced this morning that one incredibly high-profile Oregon Duck was accused of robbing a Oregon frat house. This afternoon, the illustrious John Taylor made note of the Oregonian report that pointed to quarterback Jeremiah Masoli and wide receiver Garrett Embry as the key suspects accused by a fraternity member.
Now word comes KMTR in Eugene that Masoli and Embry are not considered suspects in the burglary.
From KMTR:
Eugene police say two University of Oregon football players are NOT considered suspects in a theft case at a fraternity house.
Eugene police told NewsSource 16 Sunday night that Duck quarterback Jeremiah Masoli and wide receiver Garrett Embry were mentioned in a police report on the theft, but they are not considered suspects at this time.
According to police, laptop computers were taken from the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house on 14th and Alder early Sunday morning.
Police did not offer further details Sunday night. EPD spokesperson Melinda Kletzok would not comment on the case Monday.
In this case — and really, in all cases — it’s safer to let the investigation take its course. But those that were quick to pin this mind-boggling decision on the star quarterback of the Ducks, should wait and see how this all turns out.
I wonder how much it cost Phil Knight to “solve” this little problem?
Based on the comments on John Taylor’s post and the comment by josecanseco above, accusations of involvement are now the equivalent of a guilty verdict.
Thanks for posting this clarification.
KEZI news in Eugene has also corroborated the police statement that Masoli and Embry are not suspects.

I can not believe that Masoli would throw away his entire future for something so stupid! And Jose, hope you never get accused of anything you did not do…wouldn’t want you to be presumed guilty.
Good news for Ducks fans and players and ADs and coaches and trainers and apparel vendors and store owners and people who make Nike cleats.
these are not the football players you are looking for
Certainly didn’t take uncle Phil long to “clean” this up.
Did anybody verify the whereabouts of Cam Newton? Maybe he firgured doing it at Auburn would be too obvious.
Local media in Eugene isn’t very reliable when it comes to off-field Duck stuff. I’m not saying what they reported isn’t true, but that KMTR and KEZI may have heard something they wanted to hear and left it at that.
The Oregonian has a better track record on this stuff.
