Kiffins continue to give single-digit salute to NCAA rules?

During Lane Kiffin‘s don’t-blink-you’ll-miss-it tenure at Tennessee, he and his staff were hit with six secondary recruiting violations.

Within his first ten days of taking over at Southern Cal, and proving the old axiom that haste makes waste, Kiffin had allegedly committed his first secondary violation as head coach of the Trojans.

Now comes word that his father may have pooped all over the recruiting rule book as well.

While there were no specifics given, a Georgia Florida high school athletic director has accused Monte Kiffin of not exactly playing by the rules when it comes to recruiting potential commitments.

Frostproof High School cornerback Nickell Robey was on Tennessee’s radar when the Kiffins were in Knoxville, and remains there after their move to the West Coast. Robey has a visit to USC scheduled for next weekend, although it sounds like the Trojans coaching staff already knows Robey well.

Perhaps too well according to the school’s AD, Charles Loveless.

“He’s not answering phone calls or returning messages right now,” Loveless said of Robey. “He had a visit from West Virginia this morning to follow up on his visit up there. Skip Holtz [the new South Florida coach] was here last week and is trying to get him to come down there. He’s planning to visit Southern Cal next week. Monte Kiffin has been very persistent. He’s probably been in here more than is legal. Of course they don’t pay attention to the rules.”

(Writer’s note: Does Mr. Loveless realize he said those last three sentences out loud? To a reporter, on the record?)

Given the situation at USC, what with the investigations and all, we would tend to think that the NCAA would pay attention to said school allegedly skirting their way around recruiting guidelines.
