Vols still searching for d-coordinator

Tennessee is still search of a new defensive coordinator after yet another ACC coordinator said thanks, no thanks to the opportunity, ESPN.com is reporting.

Everett Withers told Heather Dinich of the site’s ACC blog that he will remain at North Carolina after having discussions with new Vols head coach Derek Dooley.

“I’m happy to be a Tar Heel,” Withers said. “I feel like this is the best situation for me and my family. Butch Davis has been great to us and I think the program has a great future.”

Kevin Steele was reportedly offered anywhere from $750,000 to $1 million annually to fill the coordinator void, but ultimately opted to return to Clemson.

ESPN’s SEC blog reports that, with Withers pulling his name out of consideration, Dooley will likely hold off until after National Signing Day Feb. 3 before naming a coordinator.
