Recruiting booty in hand, Urban headed for a getaway

Florida started the day with the projected top recruiting class in the country. They’ll end it with an even stronger grip on the mythical title.

Now that the recruiting heavy lifting is done, head coach Urban Meyer can now take the much discussed leave of absence that’s dominated Gator news for the last month or so.

Seriously. Honestly. He will. He means it this time.

Speaking to reporters this evening, presumably after pulling the final blue-chip recruit out of his... uhhh... ear, Meyer said that off-and-on interim coach and offensive coordinator Steve Addaziowill be in charge of day-to-day activities for awhile” now that the 2010 recruiting season has officially ended.

He would not, however, say how long Addazio would have the keys to the program, saying only that he’s “not sure” how long “awhile” is.

The only thing that Meyer would cop to is that he has, likely at the urging of his wife and athletic director, a couple of getaways planned.

Meyer has already publicly announced that he will be on the sidelines coaching the Gators when spring practice commences on March 17.
