WVU reels in 19 newbies, but 5-star Anderson not one

West Virginia head coach Bill Stewart introduced 19 recruits at a press conference Wednesday, concluding National Signing Day for the Mountaineers.

Unfortunately for Stewart, five-star prospect Latwan Anderson was not among them. Anderson previously committed to West Virginia verbally, but didn’t sign a national letter of intent Wednesday. He is reportedly leaving his options open, and has heard from Lane Kiffin’s USC Trojans (surprise!) as well as Jim Tressel’s Ohio State Buckeyes.

So the Mountaineers will settle for no five-star prospects. They locked up five of the four-star variety: QB Barry Brunetti, DE/LB Bruce Irvin, OT Quinton Spain, WR Deon Long, and the aforementioned Ivan McCartney.

The other 14 new Mountaineers are DE Trevor Domko, QB Jeremy Johnson, S Michael Dorsey, LB Doug Rigg, LB Jewone Snow, S Travis Bell, S Wes Tonkery, DB Qudral Forte, OL Marquis Wallace, RB Trey Johnson, LB Troy Gloster, DB Avery Williams, WR Quantavious Leslie, and WR Dante Chambers.
