Harbaugh adds Fangio, two other coaches

It was well over a week ago that Tom Dienhart of Rivals.com reported that Vic Fangio was leaving the NFL and the Baltimore Ravens for the defensive coordinator job at Stanford.

Ten days later, the Cardinal has officially acknowledged the move.

According to a press release issued by the school, Fangio was indeed named the Cardinal’s new coordinator.  Additionally, head coach Jim Harbaugh added two former Notre Dame coaches to his staff — defensive line coach Randy Hart and special teams coordinator Brian Polian.

Fangio was the special assistant to the head coach and linebackers coach for Harbaugh’s brother John’s Baltimore squad last season.  Polian, the Irish’s special teams coordinator the past five seasons, is the son of Indianapolis Colts president Bill Polian.

Hart, an Ohio State letterwinner in the late sixties and early seventies, spent 21 seasons at Washington before moving to South Bend for one season last year.

Pretty interesting since Brian Polian’s dad fired Vic Fangio and Jim Mora before the Colts hired Dungy.
