Scott on coming back to Buffs: ‘It’s a lie’

Well, we think it’s safe to close the books on a Darrell Scott return to Colorado. At least for now.

A Denver television station created quite a bit of a stir in the Rocky Mountains Tuesday by reporting that Scott, the crown jewel of the Buffaloes’ 2008 recruiting class who left the football program last November, was considering a return to the school. It was also reported that Scott had already met with head coach Dan Hawkins about a return.

Hawkins had already taken some of the life out of the story by stating, through a school spokesman, that he had not talked to Scott.

And now Scott has perhaps driven the final nail into the second-chance coffin.

Asked by the Boulder Daily Camera if there was any truth to the report, Scott very emphatically said there was not.

“Nope, not at all,” Scott told the paper. “It is a lie. I don’t plan on coming back.”

So, for those of you looking for v2.0 of Scott in the Buffaloes backfield, it looks as if you can forget about that ever coming to fruition.
