Last month, Oregon kicker Rob Beard was beaten -- or, more specifically, kicked -- to the point of unconsciousness during a brawl that started as a war of words before turning very physical.
He was initially hospitalized in critical condition and ultimately underwent facial surgery to repair the damage.
As if that weren’t enough, now Beard is facing charges stemming from the incident.
According to the Eugene Register-Guard, Beard has been charged with fourth-degree misdemeanor assault. The charge stems from Beard allegedly assaulting a 19-year-old female during the brouhaha.
A school spokesperson told the Register-Guard that head coach Chip Kelly is aware of the charge but “doesn’t have anything to say” about it at this point in time.
