Some of you have wondered what Jim Leavitt has been up to since “parting ways” with South Florida last month.
Well, wonder no more and maybe, just maybe, sleep a little bit easier tonight armed with the knowledge.
Greg Auman of the St. Petersburg Times caught up with Leavitt earlier today, and the former USF head coach said that he will attend the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis this weekend as a guest of the St. Louis Rams. Leavitt was invited to attend by a member of the Rams’ front office, and will take part in evaluating the 2010 draft prospects.
It will be Leavitt’s first time attending the combine.
Additionally, Leavitt told the Times that he’s been getting up at 3:30 in the morning on a regular basis to watch film with former NFL head coach and current Monday Night Football color analyst Jon Gruden.
(What would be the over/under on the number of f-bombs per minute dropped in those sessions, 5.7? 7.9?)
As expected, Leavitt gave no indication as to how settlement talks with the university are progressing, and also didn’t indicate when he thought he would be back in the game at any level.
