Gator appealing sixth-year denial

As far as sixth years of eligibility are concerned, the NCAA has giveth over the past couple of months more so than they’ve denied.

Arizona State receiver Brandon Smith, South Florida running back Mo Plancher, Purdue linebacker Jason Werner, Kent State running back Eugene Jarvis and Auburn defensive back Aairon Savage were among the players who were so graciously gifted an additional season by the NCAA.  On the other side of the ledger, Oregon State quarterback Lyle Moevao and Oklahoma linebacker Ryan Reynolds were both denied a sixth year.

Also included in that latter group is in-limbo Florida safety Dorian Munroe.  Unlike Moevao and Reynolds, however, Munroe isn’t accepting the NCAA’s “final” decision.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Munroe has appealed the NCAA’s decision to deny him another season of college ball.

Munroe told the paper that he’s uncertain of the status of his appeal, but is “hoping for the best.”

The defensive back was a redshirt in 2008 because of a torn ACL, then missed most of the 2009 with additional knee injuries.

It’s unclear when a final, final decision by the NCAA will be made on Munroe’s appeal.
