Shocker: College coach caught on tape… swearing!

You may want to sit down before reading the following post and clicking on the links to the video clips.  And you may throw in a prayer and a “Hail Mary” or two.

Just in case.

Through the Texas Open Record Act, Orangeblood.com — Rivals.com’s Texas website — obtained video of former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach going off on his team in a pair of postgame tirades.  And, get this, he drops quite a few naughty words.

Including, and again I hope you’re sitting down for this, a copious amount of f-bombs.

Here’s a rough transcript of some the good parts of Leach’s “speech” following a close win over Baylor on Nov. 28:

This team has felt like it was entitled to something. … Well that’s f—— bulls— … F— that. … I tell you what, some of you mother f—— who didn’t play a snap last year, if you’re a receiver and you think you got credit for Michael, for one of Michael Crabtree’s plays, you’re out of your f—— mind. … You start by rolling the f— out of somebody. … Against Texas, ‘oh, we’ll play it close.’  OK, we play that mother f—– close, and everybody’s mommas and daddies are telling them how great they f—— are and ‘ooh you played ‘em close’.  F— playin’ ‘em close, we lost the g—— game to the University of Texas and we could’ve won the mother f—–. … We’re just a little too good to play at Houston, when we lost our f—— ass cause we thought we were too good to f—— play. … We thought we were too good to play Texas F—— A&M.  Now how in the f—- can that be?

And finally, the pièce de résistance, the “I Have A Dream” of college coaching soliloquies, I present to you “Pooh-Pooh, in D-Minor”:

We thought we were too good to play Baylor.  Thought we were too good.  The Mighty Red Raiders. Oh yeah, pooh-pooh.  F—— Baylor.  F— you.  And f— me.  And f— everybody.  That is f—— bulls—.

[Bravo!!!  Bravo!!!  Encore!!!  Encore!!!]

Anyhow, you get the drift.  A head coach at a major college football program swore at his team, talked down to his team, and threatened them.  And there will likely be an uproar once this thing really hits the mainstream.

Yaaawwwnnn.  Wake me when the vast majority of coaches don’t use “salty language”.

Anyway…

Unless you work at a steel mill or in the offices of Gruden, Leavitt & Associates, you might want to know that this link and this link to the audio and video are NSFW.

Also on the news front.. I ate breakfast this morning… Seriously, is this even a shock? We all know Mike Leach is no angel.. and like myself, like others who have played college ball, we all know that coaches EVERYWHERE swear and get mad when their team does not meet expectations. Sounds like a slow morning for CFT!!

Leach is the wind beneath my wings……
We should elect him to Congress. It would make things so much more interesting.

Watched both videos and after viewing them all I can say is that I am glad he is not in coaching right now. All of us know what crossing the line means and it is obvious that this is one guy who doesn’t. His obsessive use of profanity is one thing but the way he called out the Christian players on his team borders on illegal. I can assure you of one thing, this video will ensure that he will not be employed as a college or high school coach anywhere in the near future and it is certainly going to bolster Teach’s defense for firing him with cause. For a guy who is well educated he shows an incredible lack of judgment at times. He is either not as smart as he likes to pontificate at times or he is delusional as to his importance.

    @interested …
With all due respect, I’d like to knock you upside the head right now! I took John’s word for the content of the profanity-laden discussion and didn’t click on the links because I didn’t want to have to sit through the language. But as a Christian, I’ve learned through hard experience never to take on faith the characterization of someone like you that Christians are being persecuted. So when I read your rant, I clicked to hear for myself.
So I’m sitting here with a splitting headache and many other things to do listening to a profanity-ridden lecture that is exactly what John said it was. There was no earthly reason I needed to hear it.
Then I click on the other link. Good thing.
Your post was an UNBELIEVABLE distortion!!
The tape was one minute–NO PROFANITY–of a coach addressing his Christian players using a scripture to which they can relate in order to explain a football principle. When he brought up the scripture, it was obvious the players got it and snapped to life. He said, I’m going to explain it this way to you, then you can explain it to the other guys (the nonChristian guys).
That’s a leader talking to his guys in a way he knows they’ll understand. He did it respectfully. He showed that he got what they were about and knew how to communicate with and motivate them.
Did he understand the Biblical principles involved? No. But however awkward, he made the effort to reach out to those guys on their turf, and I’d be very surprised if that speech offended any of them because no one that stiff-necked would be physically able to play football.

The only way that could’ve been better was if he’d added:
    “I’m a f—– man! I’m mother f—– forty!”
