Exactly one month ago today, Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder resumed throwing after undergoing shoulder surgery last November.
New head coach Jimbo Fisher gave an update on the quarterback’s progress this morning ahead of the start of spring practice, and all systems still appear to be a go for the potential Heisman Trophy candidate.
According to Fisher by way of the Orlando Sentinel, Ponder is making upwards of 130 throws a day with the surgically-repaired shoulder. Perhaps the best part of the news for the Seminoles is that Ponder’s shoulder has responded well to the increased workload.
“And,” Fisher said, “he works his tail off. … there has not been one day where there’s been a setback.”
That being said, Ponder will be a no-go as far as contact is concerned, although that’s a non-issue compared to getting Ponder 100-percent healthy for the start of summer camp and what the program hopes will be a run at an ACC title.
