Boise St. player hit with felony charge

Eight days ago, Boise State special teams ace Jason Robinson was suspended indefinitely by head coach Chris Petersen for violating unspecified team rules.

Now, we know why then coach would’ve preferred to keep the violation unspecified.

According to the Idaho Statesman, Robinson has been charged with felony aggravated battery.  The charges stem from an incident around Feb. 12 in which Robinson allegedly broke a man’s jaw during a bar fight.

Boise police say they were made aware of the fight the evening of Feb. 13 when the victim called them from local hospital, where he just found out he had a broken jaw.

The victim told police he encountered Robinson at a bar in the 500 block of West Main Street just after midnight Feb. 13.

Police later determined Robinson was talking with two other people, a man and a woman, inside the bar when an Eagle man in his mid-20s walked up to the group and said something to Robinson. Witnesses say they exchanged a few more words, when Robinson punched the man in the face, according to Boise police reports.

The man went to the hospital later that day and found out he had a broken jaw. That’s when he called police, according to reports.

A warrant was subsequently issued for Robinson, and the defensive back was arrested Monday on the warrant.  He was released from jail after posting a $5,000 bond.

The school has not commented further on this development.

It’s good to see that Boise is able to compete with the automatic qualifier schools on player thuggery, if nothing else.

Let’s not be too quick to judge Robinson. He was wrong to punch the guy, but it sounds like he might have been provoked. We should at least know who this guy is, what they talked about, etc., before we condemn Robinson.

Did the Eagle Man simply screech in face and flap his wings furiously?

Um… so you are saying that depending upon what they talked about, and how provocative it was, that could justify felonious assault?
Just trying to make sure I understand your logic here.
