FSU, Air Force nix pair of dates

Scheduled to play a home-and-home series in 2011 and 2012, Florida State and Air Force have mutually agreed to call off the series, the Colorado Springs Gazette is reporting.

The issue arose over the ’11 game, which was scheduled to a home game for the Falcons.

According to the Gazette, the AFA wanted to play a Div. 1-AA school to open the season as it will be parents’ weekend, instead of the scheduled opener against the Seminoles.

FSU could not work around that proposed stipulation, and suggested the entire series be dropped.

The Academy agreed, and now both schools will begin the process of filling the open dates on their respective schedules.

Wasn’t it said before that Boise State needed somebody to open up the 2011 season? Here’s a chance for another East coast team to step to the plate…

Play 3 time zones away for the opener against Boise St? Doubtful. FSU’s out of ACC schedule will include Nebraska, USF, UF, and possibly BY. Doubt they would want to risk a date with Boise St.
