Ex-Trojan Corp begins spring ball at Richmond

At this time last year, Aaron Corp was well on his way to winning the starting quarterback job for the USC Trojans, thanks to a flawless spring of practice. Today, he’s across the country, fighting to win another quarterback job, this one at Richmond.

The Los Angeles Times’ Gary Klein caught up with Corp, who admitted he might have reconsidered the decision to leave if he knew Pete Carroll was out the door right behind him.

“It would have been prudent, but I’m happy where I’m at,” he said. “I have no regrets.”

Corp lost his job before ever taking a snap, thanks to a leg injury in preseason camp to freshman Matt Barkley. When Barkley was hurt Corp started in the loss to Washington and ended up at the bottom of the depth chart behind Barkley and Mitch Mustain.

Corp has two years of eligibility left at FCS subdivision Richmond, where he’s right back at the drawing board battling for playing time.

“My first job is to go out and win the starting job and, obviously in the process, establish myself as a leader and prove to the guys that I can play,” Corp said.
