Wolfpack DL has issue with elderly bus driver

An early-morning confrontation involving a 65-year-old bus driver has landed North Carolina State’s J.R. Sweezy in hot water with both the law and the football program, the Raleigh News & Observer is reporting.

Sweezy was arrested Thursday morning and charged with misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor larceny following an incident on a Mooresville, NC, shuttle bus.

From the News & Observer:

Sweezy, listed as 6-5 and 293 pounds on the N.C. State roster, was asked to leave the shuttle bus by [David Scott] Magnuson, the driver, for acting “loud and obnoxious,” according to a press release by the Mooresville Police Department.

As he exited the bus, Sweezy knocked over Magnuson’s tip jar, according to the release. Magnuson and [Nicholas] Kaplan left the bus to confront Sweezy and the altercation turned physical. According to a New 14 Carolina report, Magnuson is 65 years old.

Sweezy, a junior in line for significant playing time this season, was suspended indefinitely by head coach Tom O’Brien.
