Horned Frog-Beaver game at Cowboys Stadium official

Last month it was rumored that the 2010 TCU-Oregon State game at the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium was close to becoming a reality.

Today, the game at Jerry’s Ode to Excess has indeed become a reality.

In announcing their 2010 schedule via a press release this afternoon, TCU has confirmed that the Sept. 4 season opener for both schools will be played at the Cowboys Stadium and will be nationally televised by ESPN.

OSU also confirmed the match-up at the NFL team’s new digs, and noted that a big part of the reason for scheduling the game in Texas was for the Rodgers brothers — Jacquizz and James — who were originally from the Houston area.

“We’ve been seeking a game in Texas for a year or two to allow the Rodgers brothers a chance to return to their home state,” OSU Director of Athletics Bob De Carolis said in a statement. “Coach (Mike) Riley and I discussed this possibility and came to the conclusion that this will be a terrific experience for our team, and something for our student-athletes to look forward to during spring practice and offseason conditioning workouts.”

It will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools, and it will be the first time the Beavers have played in the state of Texas since a 1996 meeting with Baylor.

Eh, not a bad opener but nothing that great.
I would have preferred a better team than Oregon State which has little national appeal.

a-i-ous, hmmm, so the Horned Froggies of the sub-major Mountainous West Conference have more of a “national appeal” than the Beavs of Oregon State and the PAC 10? If TCU had joined the WAC when they left C-USA – they would now be in a conference that has some “national appeal”.
Any TCU fan should be grateful to be playing the Beavs in the Jerry Jones Dome as it will serve as an opportunity to get TCU on live television BEFORE the bowl season starts next year.
The WAC probably wanted nothing to do with TCU and THEE ugliest unis in all of CFB outside the Nike Clucks of Oregon. Those atrocious purple and black combos almost make their game unwatchable (that would be TCU’s bowl game – the one that actually got air time on to the TV schedule last season).
