Horned Frog-Beaver game at Cowboys Stadium official

Last month it was rumored that the 2010 TCU-Oregon State game at the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium was close to becoming a reality.

Today, the game at Jerry’s Ode to Excess has indeed become a reality.

In announcing their 2010 schedule via a press release this afternoon, TCU has confirmed that the Sept. 4 season opener for both schools will be played at the Cowboys Stadium and will be nationally televised by ESPN.

OSU also confirmed the match-up at the NFL team’s new digs, and noted that a big part of the reason for scheduling the game in Texas was for the Rodgers brothers -- Jacquizz and James -- who were originally from the Houston area.

“We’ve been seeking a game in Texas for a year or two to allow the Rodgers brothers a chance to return to their home state,” OSU Director of Athletics Bob De Carolis said in a statement. “Coach (Mike) Riley and I discussed this possibility and came to the conclusion that this will be a terrific experience for our team, and something for our student-athletes to look forward to during spring practice and offseason conditioning workouts.”

It will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools, and it will be the first time the Beavers have played in the state of Texas since a 1996 meeting with Baylor.
