Already Manute Bol-thin in the secondary, Michigan suffered a pair of injuries that have further weakened the inexperienced unit.
According to AnnArbor.com, safeties Vlad Emilien and Jared Van Slyke were injured during spring practice last week. Both players suffered knee sprains and could miss the remainder of the spring sessions.
“It’s a position of concern for us, certainly in experience,” head coach Rich Rodriguez said Tuesday. “We’ve moved some guys around a little bit, but certainly for Vlad it’s going to be a big spring for him – him and Jared both. But they had great winters and they’re in good shape. If they don’t return this spring then certainly our evaluation for them to be able to help us will wait until August.”
Based on the information available at this time, it doesn’t appear that the injuries would preclude either player from participating at the beginning of summer camp.
