Ga. Tech loses back to ‘eligibility rules’

Expected to be part of a contingent that was hopeful of replacing the production lost by Jonathan Dwyer‘s defection to the NFL, Daniel Drummond will instead find himself on the outside looking in at his Georgia Tech teammates on Saturdays this fall.

According to a press release issued by the school, Drummond “was found in violation of the NCAA eligibility rules and has been declared ineligible for at least the first 10 games of the 2010 season.”

The release did not state which specific eligibility rules the running back violated.

Drummond will be allowed to participate in practice, including spring practice which begins Monday afternoon. He is ineligible, however, to participate in games at this time.

Drummond did not play in 2009 as a freshman and used his redshirt season.
