Illini likely lose lineman for season

A serious knee injury suffered over the weekend will likely cost Illinois a potential starter along their offensive line, the Champaign News-Gazette is reporting.

Corey Lewis suffered a torn ACL during the Illini’s spring game Saturday and will be forced to undergo surgery to repair the damage.

While he hasn’t officially been ruled out for the entire 2010 season, the timing of the injury makes it unlikely that he’ll be available for much of the upcoming year.

The News-Gazette reports that Lewis was projected as the starter at one of the tackle spots on the line.
