'Canes-Tide at the Georgia Dome?

Alabama lost games in the 2013 and 2014 seasons when they and Georgia Tech agreed to postpone a scheduled home-and-home series.

Now comes word that they could be picking up a non-conference game for the 2012 season.

The “top executive” for the Chick-fil-A Classic has told the Miami Herald that he would like to match up Miami and Alabama in the season-opening game two years from now.  Each team would take home $2.25 million for the Georgia Dome appearance.

While there’s no word from ‘Bama regarding the game, the UM athletic director seems very much open to the idea.

“It’s something we would be interested in,” Kirby Hocutt told the Herald.

If Alabama decides to pass on the ’12 game, Auburn, Georgia and South Carolina would be other possibilities for the Hurricanes in the opener.

Of course Bama will pass on the canes! Bama tried to get out of Penn State series in 2004-2005, but they have to play them 2010-2011 to save face!

Fu-n-i: I don’t see Bama passing up any chances to whip up on the lowly Miami Sugarcanes of the Awful College (football) Conference – at the Georgia Dome or any where else. The lame Sugarcanes are a far cry from Penn State and they play in a league that got worse by expanding (at least in football).

So is your name supposed to indicate your take on things, or describe the “cigarettes” you’re smoking?
Yeah, ‘Bama pushed off Penn State in ’04-’05 to keep the training wheels on for Mike “Can I Have Dad Out Here With Me?” Shula, but said dodging is not needed for Nick Saban–or even desired, as he has stated his wanting to beef up the schedule. You know, that schedule ‘Bama played last year that was ranked in the top-20 by the NCAA (higher than UT, BSU, UC, and TCU’s, the other unbeatens headed into the bowls) and number two by Sagarin (tops was Mississippi State)?

    Agrees with DC.
Besides, Alabama isn’t “saving face” by playing a crappy 2010 Penn State team.

It will be tough to pull for either team. Both fan bases are totally obnoxious when they win.

This game would be irrelevant in 2012. Jacory Harris will be gone and Saban will probably be coaching elsewhere by then given his track record. I could see them playing this year, though. National Championship?

Wait till PSU beat the weak, probation team from Bama! PSU 21 Bama 16!

Funi, do you have a walnut for a brain? No one dislikes Bama and their 719 Unofficial National Titles more than me, but for crissakes, they don’t back down from anyone with Saban at the helm. They have pummeled Va Tech and Clemson in recent out of conference season openers and they are kicking off a series with Penn State this year.
Penn State doesn’t have a Quarterback this year. I’d love to see the Lions dump ‘em, but the truth is that Bama will roll them like the marijuana cigarettes that you rolled before making your typically dumbfounded comments.

Roll Tide Roll! I had to start with that just to piss off all the haters leaving comments on this page.
If you believe Bama suffers a loss to Penn ST. or UM then it is just wishful thinking. I will be at the Penn St. game just to see Coach Joe Gracing Bryant Denny Stadium with his apearance on the sidelines, but he will leave without a win under his belt.
