‘Husker chancellor shoots down rumor of Big Ten offer

Well, that was fun while it lasted. For the whole hour or two we were allowed to do belly-flops into the muddy end of Bushwood’s rumor pool, anyway.

Not long after a Kansas City radio personality posted a story on the station’s website regarding the Big Ten extending initial offers to four schools, one of the chancellors of the institutions involved was afforded an opportunity to respond and decided to give an atomic wedgie to the story.

And then give it a swirly for good measure. Just because, ya know, that’s how most chancellors roll.

Nebraska, along with Missouri, Rutgers and Notre Dame, were the four schools mentioned in the station’s report. The Nebraska chancellor was asked about the validity of the report by the Lincoln Journal Star, and his email response left no gray area at all.

None whatsoever,” Harvey Perlman succinctly replied.

Thank you very much, Chancellor Party Pooper. Thanks for nothin’.

And, we get the feeling Mr. Perlman’s response will serve as the basic tenor for subsequent denials from the other three schools, and the Big Ten as well.

Oh well, at least we still have sanctions imposed by the NCAA on USC to look forward to.
