Lane Kiffin: Modest, classy and ever the gentleman

As you no doubt know by now, USC Lane Kiffin has run roughshod over his first two opponents in the opening rounds of Esquire.com‘s Sexiest Woman Alive tournament.

Natalie Gulbis? Vanquished like a plaid-clad 27 handicap.

Danica Patrick? Put into the second-round wall.

Now, Kiffin is facing soccer player Heather Mitts in the Sassy Sixteen of the Esquire tournament and, ever the gentleman as well as being the consummate mind-games tactician, the USC coach has reached out to his opponent via Twitter and urged her and her friends to step up their collective games.

“Dear Heather Mitts- I tried this with Natalie & Danica...please have all of your friends vote for you in the Esquire Mag contest! Thanks.”

Does that statement just ooze class and modesty -- with a pinch of “I’m in your head” -- or what?

However, he’s not fooling us. You cannot tell me that Kiffin and his football program do not want this title, and want it very badly. Can you imagine the boon to recruiting, being able to stroll into a recruit’s living room with a tiara atop his head and a “Sexiest Woman Alive” sash proudly draped across his puffed-out chest?

What recruit wouldn’t just melt into a pool of letter-of-intent-signing flesh at the sight of that?

So, again, Coach Kiffin’s not fooling us at all.

And don’t let him fool you either. Get out and vote. And do it right HERE.
