Ex-Auburn RB Aycock eyeing USF

Nearly two weeks after being dismissed from the Auburn football program, Dontae Aycock has his eyes on a potential new football home.

The only problem? The school has not reciprocated the interest. Yet.

Speaking to Greg Auman of the St. Petersburg Times, Aycock indicated that his school of transfer choice would be South Florida. As of yet, however, he’s yet to have any contact with USF coaches.

“That’s a school I would be interested in,” said the Tampa native. “I would love to be back home, and I don’t have a problem with sitting out a year.”

While it was reported that Aycock had been dismissed for violating unspecified team rules, the back told the Times that he wasn’t aware of any rules he may have broken. Instead, Aycock portrayed it as him going to coaches requesting a transfer because he didn’t feel comfortable during his one year on The Plains.

“I just didn’t like the atmosphere,” he said. “I don’t know if it was just me being homesick, but It didn’t seem like I fit well there.”

Aycock, who’s only heard from one Div. 1-AA school and one junior college since his “departure”, was a four-star member of Auburn’s 2009 recruiting class and was a redshirt last season.
