Top 2011 QB recruit to announce school Thursday

Yeah, I know. The ink is barely dry on the 2010 recruiting class and here comes a story regarding a player in next year’s class.

However, when that player is a quarterback and is rated as the No. 1 dual-threat QB in the country by Scout.com and No. 2 by Rivals.com, it deserves a mention.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Braxton Miller from just outside of Dayton, Ohio, will give a verbal commitment to his school of choice at noon Thursday.

The 6-3, 200-pound Miller has received offers from, among others, Ohio State, Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame, Southern Cal, Tennessee and Michigan. All told, Miller has received well over 40 scholarship offers.

The Buckeyes in particular have been going hard after Miller in an attempt to keep him in-state, having offered the senior-to-be during his sophomore year. The word is that work will pay off for Jim Tressel and company as it’s rumored Miller is doing a heavy lean toward Columbus.

Of course, it’s just a non-binding verbal Miller will make later this week, so there’s nearly eight months for Miller and anyone else to change their minds.
